Judas acted like he was Jesus’s friend when he came to the garden to betray Jesus. He kissed him on the cheek. “I’m just doing what you told me to do…quickly”. Judas probably fooled himself into thinking that Jesus would just go to jail and because he wasn’t doing the dirty work, he would be blameless; he was just bringing folks to Jesus, right? He tried to undo his betrayal once he realized that his actions would end up with Jesus being executed, “I have betrayed innocent blood!”
Everyday, at some point, I’m shocked that things didn’t go as I planned. The outcome I predicted wasn’t even close. I am always relearning that my plans are not always His plans. “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.” (Pr 16:9)
I read scripture and pray with the hope that I might be able to recognize God’s plan throughout the day and join him, or at least not be so certain that I am going to get my selfish ways.
